Shanghai Giles Filter Technical Development Co., Ltd.established in July, 1993, are enterprises specialized in the development and production of registered Superclean Brand filter elements and filter materials & equipment, such as the millipore filter membranes and the folded millipore filter membrane elements.　The main materials for the filter membranes include polysulfone, teflon, polyvinylidene fluoride, polypropylene and nylon imported from

the United States and Germany,which conform to Level VI biological safety requirements specified in the 22nd Edition of the United States Pharmacopoeia and the state standards GB-9688-88 and GB/T17219-1998. The products manufactured have passed all the tests conducted in the Drug Test Institute under Shanghai Drug Administration Bureau, Shanghai Preventive Medicine Research Institute and the Sanitation Supervision Office under Shanghai Sanitation Bureau.

Based on the inspection and importation of the advanced technologies and equipment in the same trade from both the country and abroad and in compliance with the national situation, the affiliated production factory, reorganized and awarded the ISO 9002 quality system verification certificate in 2001, is now staffed amply with competent employees, more than 40% of whom are medium- and senior-titled technical personnel, and can design and develop the assemblies in different filter components and the complete or the set of filter equipment in accordance with the requirements from the customers. The filter equipment in different categories in their main structure of a stainless steel cylinder filter are designed with reference to the internationally advanced product standard of the same categories, are produced in accordance with the GMP requirements and are up to the advanced level in accuracy.

A new production base has been designed and built in accordance with the ISO 9002 standard. The base covers an area of 11.5 mu, in which a 2,000 m2 factory building has been built. It is clean, spacious, bright and temperature-controlled indoors and free of any pollution outdoors as there is a large stretch of lawn around.

Based on the inspection and importation of the advanced technologies and equipment in the same trade from both the country and abroad and in compliance with the national situation, the production base has been designed and equipped with an advanced specialized production line for milliepore filter elements, in which there are folding machines installed in different types for different folds, thus being able to conduct special processings

of the filter elements to satisfy the different requirements from the customers. The effective filtering area of the single filter membrane element has reached an internationally advanced level and the special composite layer structure, which has a function of both an internal and external support and protection for the membrane element, ensures effectively the membrane element strength and the integrity, thus increasing greatly the filtering efficiency and prolonging considerably the service life.

The production line is furnished with a high-power ultrasonic welding machine. The advanced ultrasonic hot-melt welding technology is adopted in the production, which ensures the integrity of the material and cuts off the secondary pollution of the material resulted from the adhesives during the filtering, as compared with the technological processes for the manufacture with the surfactants and the adhesives.

A six-workpiece-position program-controlled filter element test & cleaning machine is mounted at the end of the production line to perform superclean washing, so as to ensure that the product quality should conform with the requirements on the filter elements specified in the GMP standard of the pharmaceutical factories and should be up to the internationally advanced level. standards.
